Responsibilities

·         Communicate with customers via telephone and written correspondence regarding technical questions and issues related to Microsoft SQL Server and Developer technologies

·         Analyze problems and develop solutions to meet customer needs; may involve writing code

·         Actively share knowledge with other engineers and develop efficient customer solutions

·         Learn prerelease products for effective support upon release

·         Write technical articles, whitepapers, training documents, other content

·         Ability to effectively work with senior technical staff as well as development teams

·         Develop specialty skills thus becoming a point of escalation

·         Install and configure SQL Server instances on cluster nodes.

·         Implement backup & restore stategy according to industry best practices.

·         Fine tune database and application performance.

·         Hands on experience of deploying web builds using automated scripts.

·         Ability to configure replication, full-text search, linked servers etc.

·         Well versed in using BI tools

 

Basic Qualifications

·         Experience in a customer facing or customer support role

·         Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving role

·         Experience in a team environment

·         Experience with Windows OS

·         Experience with Relational Database management systems and concepts

·         Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005 or an equivalent database product

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Degree in CS, or equivalent in work experience

·         Experience in software development

·         Product Support experience and/or Customer service experience

·         Excellent spoken and written communication skills

·         Effective Learning Skills

·         Experience with basic debugging

·         Demonstrated ability to handle technically challenging situations, including the appropriate use of all available resources

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with development on complex technical issues as well as with executive level management on complex technical issues in audience acceptable terms
